WBCSD The Climate Drive Cookie Policy (the "Cookie Policy")

Who is WBCSD?

This Cookie Policy sets out important information in relation to cookies generally and those specific cookies that World Business Council for Sustainable Development ("WBCSD", "we", "us" or "our"), as a controller, uses on its WBCSD The Climate Drive website.

Our use of cookies and other information-gathering technologies

A "cookie" is a small text file that is stored on a user's hard drive or mobile device. Cookies are generated by web servers when the user enters an internet page, and are passed to the user's computer or mobile device and stored for subsequent future access. They perform a number of functions associated with browsing websites and are used for a variety of different purposes, such as tracing users from page to page on an internet site. This can enhance a user's experience on a website, enabling the site to be personalised according to e.g. a user's preferences and browsing activities.

There are different types of cookies:

Session cookies

Session cookies are stored in your computer or device's memory during your browsing session and are automatically deleted from your computer when you leave a website or an app. These cookies usually store a session ID, allowing you to move from page to page without having to log-in repeatedly.

They are widely used by commercial websites; for example to keep track of items that a consumer has added to a shopping basket.  Session cookies do not collect any information from your computer or device and they expire at the end of your browser session.

The cookies that we use in this regard are set out Table 1 below.

Persistent cookies

Persistent cookies are stored on your computer or device and are not deleted when your browser is closed. Persistent cookies can be used to retain your preferences for a particular website or app, allowing those preferences to be used in future browsing sessions.

Persistent cookies usually assign a unique ID to your browser and they are usually configured to identify you for a prolonged period of time, from days to months or even years.

The cookies that we use in this regard are set out Table 1 below.

Strictly Necessary Cookies

As the name suggests, these cookies are crucial to the functionality of the website and accepting them is a pre-condition to your usage of the site. They facilitate a range of onsite activities, including letting you log in and save your progress as you move across the website.
